Laundry Services

In all University residence halls, except 1959 E Street, The Dakota and Townhouse Row, coin-operated laundry facilities are in common areas on each floor or in one central location in the building, usually on the first floor or the basement levels.  Machines accept quarters (residence halls do not have change machines).  GW students may use their GWorld card to pay to use laundry machines.

WARNING:

  • Do not dye clothing, or place flammable materials or clothing soaked/soiled with flammable liquids in the washers or dryers.

Tips on Use:

  • The price per load (washer or dryer) is $1.50 in quarters.  Change machines are not available in the laundry room, but participants can obtain rolls of quarters from local convenience stores and banks.
  • As a general rule of thumb, the units operate best when not overloaded, and when the clothing loosely fills the unit, and is not packed in.
  • Be sure to clean out the lint trap after each dryer use, and be sure to check before loading your clothes to ensure that the lint trap is clear. This will keep air flow open and allow optimal dryer operation.
