What to Pack
GW Housing is dedicated to making your stay on campus as comfortable as possible.
All residence halls are partially furnished with:
- Twin‐sized bed
- Desk
- Closet or wardrobe
- Coin‐operated laundry facilities
- Internet, telephone service
- Refrigerator
- Microwave
Items to Bring
Individuals should consider bringing the following items, as they are not provided by GW Summer Housing:
- Kitchen appliances and utensils. In-suite and community kitchen supplies are not furnished by the university
- Residents are encouraged to bring a desk or floor lamp to supplement in-room lighting
- Standard twin-xl sheets, pillow, pillowcase, blanket, washcloth, and towels
- Power outlet strip (surge-protected only)
- Iron and ironing board
- Television
- Cleaning supplies
What Not to Bring
We invite you to bring items that will make your stay enjoyable, but the following items are prohibited. The Office of Environmental Health & Safety maintains an exhaustive list of prohibited items:
- Additional Furniture
- Pets
- Non-surge-protected extension cords
- Halogen Lamps
- Kitchen Appliances in rooms without a kitchen
- Candles and Incense
- Flammable Liquids
- Explosives, including fireworks
- Weapons, including switch-blade and butterfly knives, spears, swords souvenir weapons, or chemicals
- Firearms, including ammunition, tasers, or pellet/BB/air/paintball guns
- Alcohol, if underage
- Illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia
To ensure you are healthy and safe during your stay, the Office of Health and Safety will either lock or confiscate prohibited items found during inspections.
