Capital Option



The buildings in the Capital Option are popular with students and interns who want to experience their first city apartment. These are studio apartments meaning that the living and sleeping areas are combined in one space.  These apartments have a defined kitchen, and en-suite bathroom, and are all single- or double-occupancy units for Summer 2025.

Capital Option room amenities include:

  • Most units are studio-style living that is set up as one large living/sleeping/dining space
  • Furnished with a bed, mattress, dresser, desk, chair, wardrobe or closet, and a dining table and chairs
  • A private bathroom
  • An in-suite kitchen with a microwave oven
  • Air conditioning

2025 Capital Option Rates

The Summer 2025 housing rate/cost for the Capital Option is $441 per week for private bedroom units OR $331 per week for shared bedroom units, with a minimum of 6 weeks of stay.

Rates do not include the 15.95% District of Columbia Gross Sales Tax. Review the qualifications to see if you can be considered for tax exemption.


Capital Buildings

 2109 F Street is a historical four-story walk-up located near the center of the Foggy Bottom campus. Square 80 Park, a sustainable green park on campus, is accessible right outside of this building.

Fulbright is a former apartment building converted to use as a residence hall.  The units are studio-style apartments with in-suite kitchens and bathrooms.  Fulbright is less than one block south of the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro Station and multiple Metrobus and Circulator lines.  Fulbright is also close to Gelman Library and the Lerner Health and Wellness Center.

Munson hall is located on the northwest corner of campus, next to JBKO Hall, conveniently across the street from the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro Station.  Munson is also across the street from Whole Foods and adjacent to GW’s new Science and Engineering Building.

International House (I-House) is the closest residence hall to the Department of State and the World Health Organization.  Located just three blocks from the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro Station, I House is also close to a 24-hour CVS and the shops in Shenkman Hall.

JBKO was built in 1945 but renovated in 2018. It is located less than a block away from the Foggy Bottom Metro station and is incredibly convenient for public transit. Rooms in this building are studio style, and each is equipped with its own kitchen.

The District Hall Affinities are used during the school year for large groups of students with similar backgrounds or interests who want to live together. In these affinities, several different living spaces and bathrooms are connected by one large shared common space.
